Disrupt the Corruption With Claire Ogah

Claire Ogah of Overlaycouture describes herself as a cultural storyteller making wearable art and digital art. Self-taught, she’s previously been part of collective projects and commissioned by The NewBridge Project.

Supported by gobscure (whose residency at The NewBridge Project focuses on pluto presses choke points), Claire is hosting conversation, discussion, showing and sharing around some of her jewellery, fabric and digital art. her event focuses on how as a cultural misfit, a Nigerian Geordie, making bespoke work that is made with love and is proud to be loud ‘disrupts the corruption’.

I will be taking part in the Making Histories workshops holding at the Great North Museum across a few days in May and June. I will be leading the Material Histories: Textiles workshop on the 13th of May 2022, 10am – 12pm.
